우크라이나 드네프르강에 위치한 키에프 아일랜드 프로젝트는
물리적인 제약으로 인하여 연결이 단절되어 있던 도시를
새로운 마이크로 아일랜드와 건축적 커넥팅 패스로 연결되는
문화 네트워크 인프라를 구축합니다.

키에프 아일랜드 마스터플랜은 향후 50년동안 점진적인 발전을 통하여
중장기적인 비전을 제시합니다. 그것은 크게 중요한 3개의 요소를 이용하여
지역과 지구를 구분 및 조닝함으로써 단계별에 맞는 균형감을 보여줍니다.
도시와 도시를 다이렉트로 연결하는 스트립과
지속적인 관리와 보존을 요구하는 자연보호 지역을 조닝하는 루프,
그리고 기존의 아일랜드와 새롭게 신설되는 열도및 군락들을
연결하는 워터패스로 정립됩니다.

첫번째 패스는 도시의 문화를 연결하는 장치로써
도시 거주민들을 위한 새로운 레크레이션 공간 및 문화공간 구축을 통하여
어반 퍼블릭 스페이스의 중심지 역활을 수행합니다.
두번째 루프는 생태학적인 자연보호 지역을 구분 및 조닝함으로써
발전에 따른 자연훼손 방지와 마스터 플랜에 있어서 균형있는 중장기 프로세스가
가능하도록 지원합니다.
그리고 세번째 워터패스는 이와같은 마스터 플랜으로 형성되는 새로운
마이크로 아일랜드와 기존 아일랜드을 연결함으로써 통합적인 마스터플랜을
지향합니다.

단순히 경제발전을 앞세워 강바닥만 파고 있는 우리와는 사뭇 다른
플랜을 보여집니다.
그렇습니다. 자연은 개발을 위해 넘어야 할 산이 아니라
우리와 지속적으로 교류하여야할 동반자 입니다.
언제쯤이면 해군기지 및 리조트 사업 그리고 골프장 등
다양한 비즈니스가 합당해 질까요?
그 합당은 암묵적인 돈에 의한 합의가 아닌
도의 아니 우리 후손을 위한 합의가 되어야 합니다.

Krakow-based architects BudCud have shared with us their finalist entry for the international Kiev Islands Master Plan Competition. The proposal suggests the development of a network of existing islands and artificial mirco islands along the Dnieper river, right outside of Kiev, Ukraine, for recreation and nature exploration.

Project Description from the Architects:

Kiev Islands on Dnieper River serve now and should serve in the further future as spaces of active recreation, leisure, flora and fauna exploration. The challenge is to develop the missing infrastructure in a sustainable and technologically advanced manner.

Character of our design responds to the 'genius loci' - in the wild area it is humble and almost invisible, but where the islands make visual connection to the city, our project gets an urban manner. The areas of different nature preservation status were distinguished with implementation of loops, stripes, paths and objects - micro islands, that create networks. We propose three main elements that will bring together development of 'the Dnieper Pearls'.

These elements are:

the loop that surrounds the natural conservation area on Muromets Island which then acts as a single wildlife reserve devoted to nature exploration.
the stripe that is laid on the Truhanov, Dolobetskyi and Venetsianskyi islands and acts like a baroque garden axis. This strip is a new sustainable park, which is surrounded by areas of natural preservation and regulated recreation.
network of water paths connects the Galernyi, artificial, Vodnikov, Zhukiv, Kozachyi and Olzhin islands and therefore creates a singular small archipelago of islands-objects.

The complexity of our masterplan requires its phasing.
First step is to establish simple and direct ways to connect and organize the archipelago. Second step is to preserve natural state of the archipelago (its ecosystem) and connections that were established before. Third step is to establish clear zoning. Fourth step is to program those new connections according to newly established zones.

Then, on top layer of the archipelago we propose to establish a matrix of micro islands devoted to different functions that will provide all the needed infrastructure on the islands. We see that as a continuous process starting from the first phase of the development.

The “new” implementations on Kiev Islands should lead us, in the next 40-50 years, to the situation of these islands being space of national importance. Kiev Islands should become a complex landscape, where the latest technology meets the magnificent scenery of perfectly preserved natural landscape with crystal clear water and vast variety of protected plants and species. On other hand it should be place where you can simply have fun!

밀레리엄 파크에 새롭게 제안되는 인터렉티브 디지털 미디어 쇼는
기존의 메터리얼의 한계를 뛰어넘는 또다른 세계를 연출합니다.
컬러풀한 지오메트릭 이미지는 음악과 조화를 이루면서 플랫한 2차원적인 공간을
3차원의 공간으로 변화시킵니다.
또한 디지털 캔버스 위로 펼쳐지는 그리드 그리고 그리드를 바탕으로 연출되는
다양한 3차원 공간감은 실질적인-아날로지- 2차원의 공간을
디지털의 3차원의 가상세계로 우리를 인도합니다.
-이것을 가상세계라고 표현하는 것보다는 증강현실이라고 표현하는 것이 맞는
표현인 것 같다. 가상세계는 우리가 본적없는 허구의 세계의 표현이며 구축이지만
증강현실은 현실 속에 가상의 이미지와 아날로지한 데이타값을 디지털로 시뮬레이션 하여
새로운 디지털 정보값을 입힘으로써 제3의 현실세계를 구현하는 일련의 행위를 일컫는다.-

이와 같은 쇼를 단순히 빛의 이벤트라고 생각하는 것은 오산입니다. 당신이 디자인하고 있는
파사드와 평면 또한 일반사람들이 느끼기에는 얇은 막에 불과하지 않을까요?
표피를 정의하는 깊이는 어디까지 일까요? 물론 이것 또한 디자인을 마감하는
표피에 대한 해답은 아닙니다. 하지만 우리가 무심코 정의하는 표피에 대하여
또다른 방향성을 제시하는 것은 우리가 순수하게 받아 들여야 하지 않을까 생각됩니다.

Chicago-based artists Petra Bachmaier and Sean Gallero of Luftwerk have transformed Millennium Park into an interactive, choreographed light show titled Luminous Field. Colorful geometrical images set to music composed by Owen Clayton Condon of Third Coast Percussion illuminate “Cloud Gate”, commonly known as “The Bean”, and transform its surrounding plaza into a digital canvas. This site-specific video and sound installation is the first of its kind for Cloud Gate. Be sure to take part in this “immersive sculptural experience” before it concludes on February 20th. '건축속에 자연이 있고 자연속에 건축이 있다.'
건축가의 시작은 오성급 리조트 호텔을 고급재료와 값비싼 치장물로 덮는 럭셔리 공간이
아닌 자연과 조우하는 심도 깊은 리조트 호텔을 만드는 것에서 시작합니다.
베이징에서 차로 한시간 거리에 위치한 바저우는 뚜렷한 사계절을 보이는 장소로써
겨울에는 북서측에서 차가운 바람이 여름에는 남동측에서 서늘한 바람이 불어오는
기후적 특성을 보입니다. 이것은 건축가에게 건축공간이 앉혀진 배치와 새롭게 조성될
외부 자연환경에 대한 단초를 제시하게 됩니다.
먼저 북측에 차가운 겨울 바람을 막아줄 언덕과 남측으로 열린 호수 뷰를 조성합니다.
그렇게 북측 언덕을 등지고 배치된 리조트는 남측방향으로 자연과 조우를 시작합니다.
여기에 기존의 자연환경에 맞물려 새롭게 조성되는 3구역의 랜드스케이핑은
호텔과 빌라를 서로 다른 위치에서 각기 다른 테마의 자연으로 조닝하게 됩니다.
-높은 언덕에 위치한 잔디공원, 언덕 서측에 위치한 숲 그리고
저지대로 펼쳐진 핫스프링 공원으로 구분된다.-

외부자연환경과 최대한 많은 조우를 위한 리조트의 리니어한 공간 선형은
연속적인 3개의 순환고리로 구현되었습니다. 여기 순환고리 중심에
조성된 조경은 건물 외곽에 면하고 있는 기존 자연과 연결되며
리니어한 내부 공간을 외부와 확장하는 중요한 구심점 역활을 수행합니다.
이러한 순환고리를 루프라고 부르며 루프는 3개의 구간으로 나누어 계획되어
각각 특화된 자연과 교감하는 공간을 만들어 냅니다.
-워터존: 외부 스위밍풀장과 내부에 로비, 카페, 스파로 구성
플라워존: 레스토랑
밤부포레스트(대나무숲)존: 게스트룸
3개의 구역의 조닝 됨-

이와같이 건축가는 외부환경과 내부의 건축공간의
조우에 대한 심도 있는 고민을 통하여 보다 많은 내부공간이
최대한 외부 자연환경과 접하면서 자연이 만들어 내는 건축적 환경을
리조트를 이용한 투숙객들에게 선사하려고 합니다.
이것은 자연을 겸허이 받아 들임으로써 건축은 주위자연환경과
환상의 하모니를 이루는 좋은 공간을 만들어 냅니다.
예전에도 이야기 했지만 우리는 자연을 이길 수 없습니다.
또한 자연을 지배 할 수도 없습니다. 우리가 디자인해야 하는 것은
인공적인 공간이 아니라 자연을 담는 그릇입니다.

With advantage of location about distance from Beijing city by car in 1 hour and resource of hot spring, Bazhou has been planed and developed as hot spring town in Hebei Province of China. There are 6 pieces of land allotted to 6 investment groups in the new development area and the project is 1 of 6 hot spring resorts.

ISSUE & AGENDA

How to redefine quality for 5 star resort hotel which is not mainly by it’s physical luxury but more about rich nature experience is the issue we have and how to create resort as one sustainable environment is our main concern. Therefore, environment goes first, then landscape experience, architectural form is just based on how to integrate it with surroundings.

SITE SITUATION

The site is flat which is about 18 hectares in rectangle shape (12 hectares for the first phase) and as normal northern landscape in China. Cold winter wind comes from northwest direction and cool summer wind comes from southeast direction. Moreover climate and landscape situation is very different at 4 reasons – spring is comfortable, summer is hot which will reach to 32 degree at highest, autumn is cool, and winter is cold about minus 10 degree at lowest. So how to use these varied experience for resort is the one of main points for design.

ABOUT PLANNING & LANDSCAPE

More Nature, More Sustainable
New topography created intends to respond to site’s situation which is to have high hill at north side working as defence for cold winter wind and low hill at south side to guide cool summer wind into the site.

Topography also works as base to creates three landscape typologies which will create multiple landscape experience – the hilltop as grassland, the hillside as forest, and the low land as hot spring. Hotel and villas will be set at different position and zoning as groups with different landscape theme such as hot spring, forest, and lake.

As hot spring resort, water is the main subject and is used as main landscape element. From hot spring to SPA, from dam to waterfall, and from water courtyard to surrounding lake, we intend to create more chance for guest to experience hot spring in many different ways.

About water system, secondhand hot spring is collected and pumped into waterfall and water wall in courtyard. Water will flow from high level to low level, from inside to outside, from water courtyard to entrance pool and down to lake and river. Finally water will be pumped back to water courtyard at the end pool of river as one circulating system.

ABOUT ARCHITECTURE & SPACE

Architecture in Nature, Nature in Architecture
“Architecture in Nature, Nature in Architecture” is our basic concept for the hotel. In the way, we intend to create weak and humble architecture which is harmonious and consistent with surroundings.

We take linear form for building as the way to integrate it with surroundings in stead of creating one big solid object as normal business hotel on landscape. Linear form is as loop putting on topography which still will keep landscape inside and can give maximum proximity and access to the landscape. Moreover, it also works as corridor to guide guest experiencing environment and as the best circulation for flow of people as well.

Based on arrangement of landscape, the hotel space is arranged in 3 loops following topography from level +0.2m up to level +1.1m.

3 LOOPS

Loop 1: Lobby, Café, SPA, indoor / outdoor swimming pool – water zone
Surrounded by water and looks like standing on it, our intention is to integrate inner space with surrounding big water. And due to temperature difference, hopefully hot spring could create kind atmosphere that hotel will look like as in mist in winter.

Loop 2: Restaurant – flower zone
Surrounded by flower and encircling sakura courtyard, we intend to create kind atmosphere which is comfortable and refined in restaurant.

Loop 3: Guest room area – bamboo forest zone
Due to it’s special character and ability to survive in winter, bamboo is chosen to create forest for guest room area which is not just only to provide privacy but also create kind feeling of meditation, especially for hot spring area in guest room towards bamboo courtyard.

EXPECTATION
We hope this resort could be as an environment which people can experience by not just only vision, but hearing, smell, and touch as well. It is just simply you can hear voice of water, birds, and wind going through bamboo, and can feel hot spring and smell flower as well.

건축가는 공간의 볼륨의 구획하기 위하여 다양한 방법으로
정의하며, 분석하고 그에 따르는 적정한 크기와 비례를 찾아 갑니다.
거기에는 주변환경을 분석한 다이어그램과 휴먼스케일, 그리고
다양한 프로그램을 일련의 법칙으로 조닝하여
공간들의 볼륨을 구체화 합니다.
그런데 어느샌가 이와같은 노력은 디지털 패러메트릭 디자인을 만나면서
새로운 도전을 받고 있습니다. 그것은 우리가 해오던 경험적 지식의 수치를 계량화하여
이것을 다시 디지털시뮬레이션을 통한 함수와 방정식으로 정립합니다.
이렇게 정렬된 변수는 건축가의 의도에 따라 프로그램에 따라 주변환경에 따라
다른 변수값을 대입하면서 일정한 패턴의 볼륨들을 형성하게 됩니다.
-우리는 종이위에서의 이와같은 곡선 그래프를 그릴 줄만 알았지
이것이 나중에 우리의 디자인을 정의하는 곡선,유기적인 공간의 볼륨을 정의하는
첫번째 선이 될줄은 몰랐다.-
그리고 그것에 대입되는 변수를 통하여 우리는 지금과 같은 다양한 형태의 곡선과
만날수 있게 된 것입니다. 이와 같이 혁신적인 발전은 지금까지 우리의
머리속에서만 있던 다양한 형태의 볼륨을 정의 및 구현 할 수 있게 도와주는 동시에
그 유기적인 볼륨을 형성시키는 구조적인 선분의 추출도 가능하게 도와준다.

건축을 하면서 이러한 환경을 자주 접하다보면 선을 긋는 행위가
얼마나 신중해야 하는지 느끼게 된다. 디지털 아키텍쳐에게 선이란
몇개의 변수가 만나는 함수에 대한 그래프로 나타나겠지만 나에게는 아직
더 많이 덜어내야 할 볼륨을 구획하는 일부분이기 때문이다.

Seeking to shift the role of the figure from a metaphorical device to a subliminal one, Go Figure promotes simultaneity in the evolution of the delineated figure by distributing cartoon and visceral features across a three-dimensional, spline based form.

Project Description from the Designer:

Problematic

The contemporary architectural figure has evolved into two coherent strains of formal expression: the paedomorphic (simple, juvenile) and the peramorphic (complex, evolved). Borrowed from the field of evolutionary biology, these terms refer to how an individual organism and a species evolve in relation to their ancestors. The paedomorphic variety privileges simple, child-like features, and alludes to the ‘cartoon’ figure while the peramorphic privileges complicated, visceral features, and alludes to bio-morphism.

Go Figure promotes heterochrony in the evolution of the delineated figure by distributing paedomorphic and peramorphic features across a three-dimensional, spline based form. Also borrowed from evolutionary biology, heterochrony has to do with the displacement in time of a particular set of features in an organism. For example, the homo sapien head is heterochronous in terms of the evolution of skull and jaw from its primate ancestors. The skull is peramorphic in that it has grown larger and more complex while the jaw has become smaller and simpler. In Go Figure, the concept of heterochrony is employed to produce simultaneity with respect to a range of binary attributes (i.e legible vs. sensate, singular vs. multiple, iconic vs. indexical, 2D vs 3D, part vs. whole, graphic vs. material etc.) in the evolution of an iconic figure: the Savoy vase by Alvar Aalto.

The sinuous and undulating top profile of the vase has been associated with the lakes of Finland, thereby granting it an authentic and meaningful status by connecting it to some regional condition. Here, the figure has been scaled up, draped, repeated, and materially reconstituted in order to dislodge it from its previous associations in order to produce novel spatial and affective qualities while retaining its specific attributes as a figure. This project seeks to shift the role of the figure from a metaphorical device to a subliminal one. The figure is legible through its strong profile, contour, and shape, yet is not interested in any pictorial representation. It’s more interested in the use of profile, color, scale, texture, and assembly to produce a physiological response. Its visuality is intended to grab ones attention and lure them into a world of optical and haptic pleasure.

Description

The Savoy figure is scaled up and repeated four times into two symmetrical pairs. Each pair is situated in the gallery according to different transversal regulating lines stemming from the relationship between the ground and the ceiling. One pair is centered within the space, the other is centered under one of the structural bays. Together they fill the space in a composition that confounds the legibility of each figure in favor of more sensate qualities with allusions to calligraphy and graffiti. The figures are made out of powder-coated aluminum sheet, laser cut, and friction-fit. An assembly method has been devised so as to challenge the conventional reliance on hardware. The color palette consists of cyan, magenta, yellow, and black. As cmyk is a subtractive color model, this palette is intended to subtract whiteness from the space and produce secondary and tertiary chromas which shift as one moves around and through the installation. Each figure is a unique combination of three of the four colors with a progression from one to the next allowing each color to be used three times.

문화는 건축물이라는 한정적인 공간에서만 이루어지는 것이 아닙니다.
넓게는 지역적으로 도시적으로 형성되며 형성된 바운더리 안에서는 고유한
캐릭터를 가지게 됩니다. 그리고 그것들을 영유하고 발전시키는 매개체-인간-을 통하여
끝없이 순환되며 다른 바운더리와도 교류하고 또한 확장하게 됩니다.
이번 베르됭에 새롭게 제안되는 아트센터는 지역의 고유한 문화를 발전 계승하는 동시에
리노베이션을 통한 지역문화의 미래에 대한 비전을 제시합니다.
크게는 아트센터는 비롯한 인근지역의 문화리노베이션을 통한
문화공감대 형성 그리고 작게는 아트센터를 통한 베르됭의 서커스 스쿨과
다양한 퍼포먼스로 통합되는 문화공간 창출입니다.
이러한 문화공감대의 중심공간으로써 아트센터는 주변을 기능적으로 연결하는
기능과 랜드스케이핑을 관망할 수 있는 뷰포인트를 포함하는 랜드마크를 목표로 합니다.
이것은 베르됭의 문화를 새롭게 정의하는 구심점이자 허브의 역활을 수반하여
장차 베르됭의 퍼포밍아트와 서커스 아트가 발전할 수 있도록 도와주는
배후공간이 될 것입니다.
또한 기존의 일반적이며 전형적인 극장과는 차별화되는 극장 시스템은
다양한 퍼포먼스와 프로그램을 수행하는 동시에

Les Architectes FABG is the winning firm in the architecture competition for a new cultural venue adjacent to the St. Lawrence River in Montreal's Verdun Borough. The project includes a professional theater and also provides for redevelopment and expansion of Verdun's circus school, the École de cirque de Verdun.

Regarding the competition-winning entry by Les Architectes FABG, the jury praised the quality of atmospheres, the development of the nearby river and the views of the surrounding landscape and the overall functionality. The jury emphasized the artistic signature of the projects submitted in the competition.

"We organized architecture competitions in order to develop a project meeting the challenge of converting the former Aréna Guy-Gagnon into a high-quality artistic venue that helps bridge the gap between the audience and the performers," explained Verdun Borough Mayor Claude Trudel, in congratulating the winning firm.

"We were concerned about making a connection between the building and the river as well as the park in which the building is located. This project is meant to be a sign of distinctiveness, yet integration, boldness and exemplariness, from an environmental standpoint," explained Éric Gauthier, a partner at Les Architectes FABG.

On the whole, the project aims at creating a hub for performing arts and circus arts in Verdun. The former arena (located at 5190, boulevard LaSalle) will be redeveloped and slightly expanded in order to better accommodate the existing Studios B and A: A cultural venue will be set up in Studio B. The new, expanded facilities will be more than a traditional theater: they will be used as a venue for creation, production and promotion for various cultural organizations in the arts field. These facilities will include a mediation room, allowing for synergy between the performers and the audience before the shows, as well as an exhibition hall and areas for the performers' living quarters.

Currently, École de cirque de Verdun is located in Studio A, which is to be redeveloped and expanded.

"We want to make Verdun a real cultural hub which—in addition to this cultural venue project—also includes La Station, recognized as a historical monument, which has been restored and converted into an intergenerational centre, inaugurated last week in the L’Île-des-Soeurs neighbourhood, and Maison Nivard-De Saint-Dizier, a museum and archaeological site located on boulevard LaSalle," pointed out Mayor Trudel.

"The materialization of this project to set up this new cultural venue is a fine example of the efforts invested by Montreal's Administration, which aims at positioning culture at the very heart of the development of our metropolis. In fact, Ville de Montréal recently adopted a resolution making culture one of the four pillars of sustainable development—a dynamic force that is making our city a major cultural metropolis. This new cultural venue is consolidating our cultural network and is thereby tangibly embodying the objectives of Réseau Accès culture's 2010-2014 Action Plan. Moreover, the outstanding architecture that will define this new performing arts hub is bringing to light the importance we attach to design—a strategic force not only for the development and recognition of our city, but also a key to improving our residents living environment," added Helen Fotopulos, responsible for culture, heritage, design and the status of women on Ville de Montréal's Executive Committee.

Over the coming months, Les Architectes FABG will be designing the plans and specifications for the project. It will also be responsible for site supervision.

구성되며 전체적인 공간이 막힘없이 열리도록 하는 오프스페이스의
조닝에서 시작합니다.
스테인 콘크리트와 아메리칸 블랙월넛 그리고 브론즈와 스틸을 적시적소에
사용한 재료 마감은 인공적인 녹청과 수성페인트 그리고 하이글로시로
마감한 벽의 베이스와 절묘한 조화를 이루면서 공간의 모던함을 풍부하게 합니다.
여기에 생활공간의 중심인 거실과 주방의 색다른 리노베이션 스페이스는
5층 슬래브를 연결하여 새로이 증축한 다이닝 공간으로 인테리어 디자인의
포인트가 되는 장소가 됩니다. 그리고 이 다이닝을 연결하는 계단실에
설치된 내부조경은 실내에서 자생할 수 있는 식물을 식생하여
창조적이며 집안 내부에 활력을 불어 넣는 터닝스페이스로 구성됩니다.

막힘 없이 열려 있는 공간을 현대적인 모던한 인테리어 디자인으로
채운 디자이너의 터치가 공간을 풍부하게 만드는 좋은 프로젝트 입니다.

The owners of this duplex apartment, located on a beautiful tree lined street in the East Village, retained Pulltab Design to create a unique living environment for a young family of four.

As a starting point, the clients requested that their 2,400 square foot apartment be selectively renovated and that the new design revolve around not only creative architectural additions but also the thoughtful selection of free standing furniture and lighting.

In the schematic design phase, initial conversations revolved around modern masters such as Geoffrey Bawa, Carlo Scarpa and Richard Neutra. Based on these conversations, it became apparent that the new design should strive to create a warm and open living environment with unique handcrafted detailing.

Materials such as stained concrete, American black walnut, bronze and steel were selected along with modernist finishes, including hand applied active patinas, true pigment paints and high gloss lacquer surfaces.

The heart of the apartment centers around the living/dining areas. As part of the architectural construction, a new cantilevered dining ‘pod’, extending from the 5th floor slab, was added to increase the size of the kitchen. On the outside surface. of this pod, a custom planted garden wall was installed with the intent of creating a focal point, with a slightly mysterious quality, for the living room.

In combination with the vertically planted wall above, a shallow reflecting pool, custom fabricated from folded steel sheets, was placed in the living room. This reflecting pool functions both as a means to capture water droplets, from the vertical garden wall’s concealed irrigation system, and also allows for the addition of a calming indoor water garden, stocked complete with colorful goldfish.

On the east wall, a new double height panel system was installed, assembled from painted furniture grade plywood. The panels, both fixed and functioning, are separated by a pattern of reveals which add both texture, interest and most importantly a sense of scale, to what was originally an overwhelming surface.

Several of the individual panels, denoted by custom routed hand pulls, open to reveal (from right to left) a chess table, a large 8′ long claro walnut dining table and a fold down illuminated bar with glass shelving.

To delineate the function of each panel, three colors were chosen: a bright orange, a glowing yellow (for the concealed bar) and a deep blue. These colors add an active layer to the space while tracing their connection back to Piet Mondrian’s inspirational composition paintings, from the 1920′s and 30′s.

하우스 내부를 구분짓는 각기 다른 공간들은 서로 연결되고
확장되면서 커다란 하나의 볼륨을 이루고 있습니다.
거주의 메인 활동이 이루어지는 생활공간과
숙면을 위한 개인적인 공간 침실은 주거를 이루는 가장 기본적인
구성으로 정직하며 심플한 우드프레임 하우스에서도 그대로 반영되고 있습니다.
재미있는 것은 서두에서 이야기 한 것처럼 열려 있는 각 공간들이 입니다.
각 공간들을 구획하기 위한 벽들은-벽식구조-최소한의
구조적인 벽들을 제외하고는 모두 제거하여 시원한 오프닝을
보여줍니다. 이렇게 구획된 공간들은 각각의 공간들로 서스럼없이 넘어가며
연결 및 확장됩니다.
-흠, 가만 보면 집에 문이 없네요. 프라이버시는 어떻게?-
여기에 1층과 2층을 연결하는 보이드스페이스는 수평적 확장을 다시
수직적 확장으로 방향을 변화시킵니다.

어떻게 작아보이기도 하지만 보는 시각에 따라
커보이는 주거공간입니다.

Some rooms on the ground floor are set at a lower level than the corridors, while the attic storage areas are raised up slightly higher than the surrounding floor.

Narrow handrails screen balconies on the upper two floors, so residents have to be careful not to slip over the edges.

도시를 열려 있는 소규모의 부띠끄는 1층에는 제품을 진열하는 디스플레이 스페이스와
맞춤 드레스를 제작 및 가공하는 2층으로 구성되어 있습니다.
200 스퀘어미터의 작은 공간이지만 공간의 적극적인 활용은 빈틈이 없어 보입니다.
더욱이 25년의 시간 속에서 쌓여진 디자인의 노하우는 저층부에 위치한 판매공간을
시각적으로 효과적인 장치적 역활을 수행합니다.

Bangkok is known as the city of Angels (Krung Thep in Thai), the most stylish of which can be seen flying inside 'Vela De'. The aim of this project was to introduce us to the collections of famous Thai designer Panlert Chumsri who established his brand in 2000 and already counts more that 25 years in the fashion industry. The 200 sq.m. boutique which relocated from the Silom area to Thonglor in September 2011, is the latest project from Bangkok based design group all(zone) which consists of the creative minds of Rachaporn Choochuey, Sorawit Klaimark, Wittida Pyomyong, Tharit Thossanatada and Jarupa Tachasirinugune.

'Vela De' is located in the stylish Thonglor neighborhood in Bangkok (916/24 Sukhumvit 55) and seizes the attention not only of passersby, but also anyone driving past due to the floating handmade dresses that hang from its ceiling. The recipe for its interior success is due to the combination of materials that are used, including glass, reflective metal, mirrors and floating fashion all merged in this urban and unexpected site!

Normann Copenhagen presents Sumo, designed by Simon Legald

For Normann Copenhagen designer Simon Legald has created a pouf in a class of its own. Sumo’s simple expression makes it easy to spot the detail and complexity of the upholstery and stitching; and the materials – wood, textiles and buttons – have been playfully combined. The visual expression is robust and friendly.

The inspiration behind Sumo originates from the classic Danish furniture industry, in which special attention is paid to the detail and craftmanship in creating the perfect balance between aesthetics and functionality.

Simon Legald says: “I enjoy working with techniques which are necessary for the design and I like including – instead of hiding – them as part of the design. The synergies, upholstery and buttons therefore play an important part in the otherwise simple design. I have also consciously stayed away from the square shapes and made the expression soft and pleasing to the eye.”

Sumo is a multifunctional piece of furniture and can be used as an extension to the sofa, a feature in the bedroom or a stool in the entrance hall. It comes in five classic colors: black, grey, beige, purple and turquoise.

BIG + Times Square Alliance + Flatcut + Local Projects and Zumtobel celebrate the Valentine’s Day with an interactive heart installation at Times Square, New York utilizing the flow of people, air and touch to bring the heart to life.

“BIG♥NYC,” a 10-foot tall glowing heart sculpture consists of 400 transparent, LED lit, acrylic tubes donated generously by the Austrian lighting company Zumtobel. The transparent tubes refract the lights of Times Square, creating a cluster of lights around the heart. The hovering heart will appear to pulsate as its tubes sway in the wind. When people touch a heart-shaped sensor, the heart will glow brighter and beat faster as the energy from their hands is converted into more light.

“What better place for couples to celebrate love and public art than in the heart of Times Square – this year, we’re inviting couples from across America and New York to come to Times Square and publicly declare their love in front of the beautiful “BIG♥NYC” which will glow brighter on Valentine’s Day as a symbol of our month-long celebration of love.” Tim Tompkins, President, Times Square Alliance.
