When locally celebrated pop culture figures reach even just the cusp of major international recognition, these figures feel the need to defend themselves as not being proper divas.

Israeli supermodel Bar Refaeli, aka Notch #551 on Leonardo DiCaprio’s list of supermodel conquests, is a draft dodger, and she’s damn proud of it. The supermodel recently told Israel’s Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper: “I don’t regret not having been drafted into the army, because I made out big."

Daria Werbowy is now the new face of Lancome, and has also landed campaigns with Prada and Gucci. Daria Werbowy is also featured in the ads, but her look seems to have been inspired by Eighties guitar bands instead: She's been styled with tangled hair and a bandana, wearing a bleached-out, zippered denim miniskirt. While Werbowy is signed to Pepe Jeans for spring only, Kutcher will be featured in the Madrid-based brand's campaigns through the fall. Daria Werbowy is an unexpected success in the modelling world. This Ukranian-Canadian beauty didn?t have any dreams of becoming a supermodel, but during her awkward years as a teenager, she was somehow urged into the business.

A true queen of the runway, this stunning Canadian holds the record for the most openings and closings of catwalk shows in a season. Daria has been compared to Linda Evangelista, but thankfully doesn't possess her airs and graces. Ukranian-born, suburban-Toronto raised Werbowy raked in $3.5m in between June 2006 and June 2007 and holds the record for opening and closing the most shows in one season. She has been on the cover of no less than 21 issues of Vogue and has been in advertisements for almost every fashion brand imaginable. But this season it?s gone even darker, and wouldn?t you know, my Rouge Noir nails look almost chirpy against the penchant for black. Black nails, black eyeliner, black bride dresses even black lips.

Irina Kulikova, a feline 17-year-old Russian, appeared on no fewer than 24 runways in New York last month, a success she went on to repeat in Milan with 14 shows, and in Paris with 24 more.

Irina Kulikova was born in 1982 in Chelyabinsk Russia, the daughter of a musical family, and at the age of six commenced studying the Guitar. In 1992 she was admitted into the International Organization and in October the same year she won the first prize for young guitar players at the International Competition in Chelyabinsk.

Lily Donaldson has had several high fashion modeling campaigns, which include leading fashion houses such as Dior, Jil Sander, and Dolce & Gabbana. But Donaldson isn't just a pretty face. She is now considered one of the top ten international supermodels.

Phelps, an average looking all-American type, has apparently landed superhot supermodel Lily Donaldson, best known for replacing Kate Moss as the face of Burberry. Apparently those spoils include models and playing grab-ass with fellow team members. Like her good friend Irina Lazareanu, this mannequin's talents aren't limited to modeling: She considered art school before being discovered. And while Lily looks up to Linda Evangelista, many people are already calling her the next Kate Moss for her killer combination of beauty, smarts, and personal style.

Caroline Trentini had a minor role in last year’s VSFS, and there’s a rumor that she turned it down because of a photo shoot scheduling conflict with Vogue. Trentini is yet another model name heard ubiquitously and seen internationally; from runways to Vogue covers to DKNY ads, Trentini has really become one of the public's much loved model. On cameras and catwalks she embodies the qualities of a designer's dream model: incredibly versatile and sweet, where she wears Dior as Galliano pictures in his visions and Alexander Wang with grungy perfection.

She started her professional modeling career at the age of 15, after IMG scouts discovered her in Saint Petersburg while looking for new faces for MTV's Fashionably Loud Europe. She entered and ended up winning their modeling contest along with a contract with IMG Paris and, later, IMG New York.

At about age 13, Trentini was discovered walking down a street in her hometown by an agent, the same one who scouted supermodel Gisele and the rest is history. In 2004 she was photographed topless by Steven Klein in a freezer, surrounded by meat, for a Vogue editorial.

When she did begin to model, her knowledge of fashion was limited. She eventually gained insight into the fashion world after her best friends crammed in fashion study sessions in between studying for exams. These models usually work for top fashion designers and labels, such as Chanel, Versace, and Dior.
